At Uccle, ozone is measured by 2 types of instruments:

  • Spectrophotometers measure the total ozone content between the ground and the top of the atmosphere
  • Ozone soundings deliver information on the vertical distribution of ozone from the ground up to about 30-35 km.

The station at Uccle is part of world wide ozone observing networks. Data are transferred to the World ozone and ultra-violet radiation data Center (WOUDC) and the Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Changes (NDACC). For European campaigns data are deposited at the NADIR data base of the Norwegian Institute for air research (NILU).
