Atmospheric profiling
Our team operates different instruments that measure vertical atmospheric profiles:
- radiosondes are launched on weather balloons, providing profiles of temperature, humidity (see water vapour), wind direction and wind speed as a function of altitude or pressure,
- ozonesondes, coupled with those radiosondes on the weather balloons, giving the vertical profile of the ozone concentrations.
- automatic LIDAR ceilometers (ALC), providing real-time monitoring of the aerosol profile in Uccle, Zeebrugge, Humain and Diepenbeek.
